Abstract
Objective : This study developed Emergency Exit Program and attempted to verify its effectiveness to present its role as a tool for training unilateral neglect of stroke patients.

Methods : This study targeted thirty-one stroke patients receiving occupational therapy at hospital. Patients who agreed to participate in this study were classified into an experimental group and a control group through random allocation, and pre-test was performed on the Albert's test and the Korean Catherine Bergego Scale (K-CBS). After the pre-test, the experimental group performed existing occupational therapy intervention (30 minutes per day, 5 times a week) and Emergency Exit Program intervention (10 minutes per day, 4 times a week, 4 weeks, total of 16 times). The control group performed existing occupational therapy intervention and additional occupational therapy intervention for the same period as the experimental group. Both groups were post-test after four weeks.

Results : Both Albert's test and K-CBS scores before and after intervention of the experimental group and the control group showed statistically significant differences (p<.01), the degree of unilateral neglect decreased after intervention. In addition, the score differences before and after intervention of the Albert's test and the K-CBS were statistically significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group (p<.01).

Conclusion : This study showed that using Emergency Exit Program for training had a positive effect on unilateral neglect of stroke patients. In the future, we hope that the program will be studied for its usefulness as a tool that can evaluate the degree of unilateral neglect as well as a training tool.
